The Heart of Public Service
"Seeing From Within"- The Question Beneath the Question
Many times, citizens do not become upset only because of a bill, a tax, or a rate increase.
They ask a deeper question:
“Are you serving us, or are you serving yourself?”
That question appears in every generation.
Whether we read about Congress, corporations, churches, nonprofits, or local districts, the same human tension appears:
Power versus stewardship.
Secrecy versus transparency.
Personal interest versus the common good.
Stewardship emphasizes responsible management of resources for future generations.
Transparency ensures that government actions are open and accountable to the public.
The common good refers to the welfare of the community as a whole, prioritizing collective interests.
The Declaration asserts that governments derive their power from the consent of the governed.
It advocates for the protection of individual rights while promoting societal well-being.
Effective governance requires balancing individual freedoms with responsibilities to the community.
