Staying When You Would Have Gone
"Seeing From Within" A Quiet Place to Return to Yourself
There was a time when I would have gone.
Even if I felt tired.
Even if something inside me said, pause.
Even if it meant leaving my own peace behind.
I would have gone…
because that’s what I thought love looked like.
Showing up.
Being available.
Making sure everyone else felt supported.
Even when I wasn’t.
The Shift
This time was different.
Nothing dramatic happened.
No argument. No clear reason to say no.
Just a quiet knowing:
“Stay.”
And I listened.
What Felt Unfamiliar
Staying felt strange at first.
Not wrong… just unfamiliar.
Because I wasn’t reacting.
I wasn’t fixing.
I wasn’t stepping in to fill a space.
I was simply… remaining.
What I Realized
Sometimes love doesn’t look like showing up.
Sometimes it looks like:
Trusting others to walk their own path
Letting silence be enough
Not interrupting your own peace to maintain connection
And maybe the hardest one…
Letting people come to you instead of always going to them
The Truth I’m Learning
I am not distant.
I am discerned.
I am not unavailable.
I am aligned.
A Gentle Prayer
Father,
Teach me the difference between love and overextension.
Let me give from overflow, not obligation.
Let me remain when You say remain.
Let me move only when You lead.
And let me trust that I don’t have to leave my peace
to prove my heart.
Amen.
For You
If you’ve ever felt that pull—
that quiet hesitation before saying yes…
Pause.
That feeling might not be fear.
It might be wisdom.
My Anchor
I remain when it is right.
I move when it is clear.
I trust the stillness.
With love,
Carlene 🌿
